Freezer woes

So, a bad thing happened to us today. Jeff discovered that our big chest freezer in the garage had come unplugged. It is a big ole freezer and was full of wild game, frozen back-up foods, and 4 MONTHS OF BREAST MILK! Jeff was very sad to loose so much elk, deer, and pheasant- although some of it on the bottom was still nearly frozen so he kept the pre-cooked stuff. But the breast milk was on the top and well defrosted. We think it might have been unplugged for as long as 2 weeks, so in the trash went all of that milk. I want to cry. It took me so much work, pain and messing around to store up milk for back-up. I was so proud to have a back-up stash- just in case. And once I was done breast feeding we would still have milk to carry Lauren through for a few weeks. It has been something that I really wanted to do for her- give her only breast milk, no formula. Whenever I was screwing around with the stupid pump and all the parts to clean, I just thought of what a wonderful gift I was giving my baby. And to see so much go into the trash- Oh man.... I know it will be OK, and I know that formula is not bad, but it was a choice I was trying to make. Stupid freezer...

Bathing beauty

Today Lauren went swimming for the first time. She had so much fun. The pool at our condo is very warm- she loved it! I see swimming lessons in her future.

Apres Ski

Today we headed to the mountain for a little apres ski. We had drinks and snacks at the new Belgian bar at WP- The Cheeky Monk. Lauren was decked out in her Juicy Couture sweats and Ugg boots. Our waitress thought she looked more like she should be in Aspen.

Check out my new hat!

I gotta wear shades...

Snow totals...

So, it is still snowing, but has slowed down alot. Once again, not quite the event that was predicted. We got just under a foot of snow- still impressive considering that we had green grass showing this time yesterday. Here is the last storm photo. Since Jeff is working until late tonight, I went out to shovel twice, but was pleasantly surprised that our neighbour had shoveled our walk after the hardest snowfall- lucky me! It was Carmen, not the evil ferret man!

Exersaucer

Lauren tried out her exersaucer for the first time today- she really like it! Thanks Jacob and Alex for letting us borrow it!

Still snowing....

Here is the progress. The flowers are about burried, up to the first bar on the gate. About 6 hours into the storm...

Snow day!

We are expecting a big snow storm today- 12-18 inches of snow in town. Jeff is working a double shift today, and wont be home until 11pm, and he took the 4WD truck, so Lauren and I are holed up in the house today. We are going to lay around in our pjs all day and bake cookies and play games. Here are some pictures- about 2 hrs into the storm. It is falling hard and fast, I will take photos again later to document the progress. Had to snap some shots of my flowers- they will likely be burried by tonight. You would think they would learn their lesson by now- not to come up in february and march no matter how nice the weather- this happens to them every year. Makes for some fun pictures though...

Bumpy name labels

These things are cool. They are rubber things to mark your baby's bottle- called Bumpy Name labels. Kalima, Lauren's daycare teacher recommended them. She has them in bubble-gum pink with her name and a heart on them. She has old-fashioned glass Born Free bottles that she drinks from. Glass seems to be the eco-friendly, baby-friendly, tried-and-true material. No worries about toxic plastic. Anyway, I think these bottle markers are a great idea- a good baby gift for someone with a little one in daycare.

Kaiser Family Photo

This is only the 2nd picture of our family (minus Casey this time...). Our other picture was at Xmas when Lauren was only 2 weeks old. Guess we gotta get more on the ball. Anyway, here it is. Jeff's cousin Chuck and his girlfriend were our dinner guests this friday, and were nice enough to take this photo of us. Lauren was a social diva, as always. We went to happy hour at the Tavern Uptown with some friends who moved away to the east coast- Lauren was alert and happy for over an hour and impressed everyone. Then she continued her social evening to host Chuck and Brittany for dinner. What a sweet heart. There is a lot of history/ drama already associated with this photograph ( i might be a psycho-mom after all)- if you have some time, I can tell you the story...

I cannot stop taking her picture...

The "sleep is for the weak" t-shirt was Jeff's purchase. Kinda cocky, huh? He bought it before she was born, does that explain it? Not so funny anymore...

Play till you crash...

Spring weather

On St Patrick's Day we had corned beef and cabbage on the porch- it was in the upper 70's - so nice!

Pretty blue eyes

Everyone thinks that Lauren has brown eyes. I think everyone expected it because my eyes are so dark. She actually has very pretty blue eyes- here are some photos.

Baby yoga- Love it!

Today Lauren and I tried out this DVD- it is yoga that you do with your baby. It was so fun! There are many traditional yoga poses, but they incorporate baby. Sometimes you are holding the baby and lifting her to use as weights. Othertimes you are doing poses over her, or push-ups over her where you kiss her at the end of each rep. There are baby parts too, where you strech and strengthen the baby. Overall, Lauren loved it. She laughed and giggled, and is now napping solidly. I highly recommend this DVD- super fun!

Lauren's big laughs

Lauren has the best laugh- she does full on belly laughs and giggles. Most nights when I come home from work, she has her best laughs. We have tried to catch it on video, but mostly missed it. Here is some video of the tail-end of one of her giggle-fits. She is so awesome...

Lauren talking

Lauren is chatty- shocker, right?! She just jabbers and jabbers and makes these funny little sounds all day long. And she smiles and laughs- it is so fun. A lot of family and friends have heard this, because she chats with me while I am on the phone. We decided to make a movie and share it, some of Lauren's funny little chatter. She is so precious!

Lauren 3 month photos

Lauren had her 3 month photo shoot today. She is such a good little model- she just smiles and laughs, the photographers love to take her picture. They turned out adorable- no surprise since she is the prettiest girl in the world.
