Nursery progress

So, we spent much of last weekend working on the baby's room. We mainly repainted all of the white trim, and changed the red to pink and brown.

Then the proud daddy put together her crib, and we set it up with her bedding. I just love it- brought tears to my eyes. Makes me excited- the crib is just ready and waiting for her arrival!

Lions, Tigers, and Bears- Oh my!

Ok, so everyone has heard the bear story- and it was getting a bit old. So this weekend we went to Winter Park in search of new stories. Jeff went hiking by Berthoud Pass up above treeline hoping to see some wildlife. Casey and I are not up for these 3 hour high-altitude hikes in our current state, so we stayed in the condo. I got an excited phone call from Jeff on his ride home... "Guess what I saw?" Well, I know we have seen bears and moose close-up, so I could only imagine what could top that- A MOUNTAIN LION. Turns out I was not quite right- he saw TWO mountain lions up on the pass. He says they were really fast, and have a long tail that flicks like a cat's tail. They were a bit bigger than a coyote, and serious enough that Jeff changed his planned hike to go another direction and avoid them entirely. Turns out the Lasix surgery was worth the money- I doubt he would have seen such an awesome sight with his old eyes. I just wish he had brought the camera along so I could have seen them too. So many people hike their whole lives and never get to see a mountain lion. What a cool summer of animal sightings we are having- we need to see them now, because next summer we aren't going to be quite as happy to see big animals while we are hiking with the little angel.

Kaiser B&B Now OPEN

Good News! To all of you concerned that the baby Diva has claimed your favorite room at the Kaiser B&B, we are happy to announce we have re-opened following some recent renovation work. We are happy to offer a garden level room with a queen bed and high-speed internet access. Check out the pictures to see how we spent our weekend. Also- we may have found the answer to the age-old question of "can you cut a box-spring mattress in half to get it down the stairs?"- absolutely! The easiest part of the whole project may have been moving the bed! Now on to baby Diva's room- oh my!

Jeff's Lasix went well!

Hooray! So, Jeff has Lasix surgery on his eyes yesterday to correct his vision, and things went very well. It wasn't too bad at all, he says- and he feels great except for sore, dry eyes. This morning he went to get checked out at the doctor, and his vision is already 20/20 less than 24 hours after the surgery. They told him to expect it may even improve futher than that. His eyes were -7 yesterday at this time. Isn't that unreal?? So he is driving and walking around without the assistance of glasses or contact- a wonderful miracle. Congrats Jeff!

Casey

Hi guys!

Shopaholic

Somebody help me- I just cannot stop myself! This is her new winter coat- i have had my eye on it for over a month and could no longer resist. It is furry all over inside, and suede-like on the outside. She is so stylish already!

A Tumble

So, yesterday after work I took a spill in the parking lot. A literal "superman dive" and shredded my pants and scraped up both of my knees. Like road-rash-from-falling-off-your-bike when you are 7 years-old style. It hurt a lot when it happened, but I didn't think too much of it, as I am used to falling down alot- I am not a very graceful person. I was just grateful I didn't fall on my belly and hurt the baby, so it seemed OK to me. At dinner last night, we shared the story with some people who freaked out and thought I should call the OB/GYN. I wasn't too concerned, but got the same reaction from nurses at work who got me big gauze bandages because bandaids aren't big enough for my scraped yucky knees. I went online to two different pregnancy sites to look up "falling down." Apparently I am the only clutz who regularly falls down, and the only hits I got on either site were in regards to toddlers falling down. Doesn't anyone else slip and fall? Maybe in the winter when there is ice?? So, I called the OB thinking they would consider me a baby, and wouldn't you know- she was concerned as well and told me to come right in for a ultrasound. I didn't mention that these new knee injuries are on top of my not-healed-yet scabs from falling down and skinning my knees in winter park 2 weeks ago- who knew you called the OB every time you fall down? Anyway, a whole lot of drama for nothing- the baby and I are just fine. I got to see her cute little face on ultrasound as they checked us out for injury, she is a doll. She weighs 1lb 2oz today, and is still a girl (good thing, with all this pink...) They even saw her taking "practice breaths" which is very advanced for 24 1/2 weeks. So, in all baby is great and advanced for her age and mom is a clutz. A clutz who is heading to DSW tonight to find some flats to wear in lieu of heals for a while. I hear flats are in, and cheaper than ultrasounds- so I am going to give that a try for a few months.

Mommy and Daddy went shopping...

So, Jeff and I have very different tastes for our little angel. Tonight we walked down to broadway for dinner, and stopped at DECADE on the way back. DECADE is a super-fun store on broadway that has millions of cute baby items - including so many shoes and slippers and booties. So, we each picked out a little gift for the baby, and as you can see we had different thoughts. I of course picked out the mary jane socks- they come in a pack with 6 different pairs. So it will look like she is wearing cutsie shoes even when she is too little to wear shoes. And Jeff thought she needed a pirate sippy cup. It is cute, and certainly quite practical. I think Jeff is going to help me balance out the pink girly stuff a bit- considering that he mostly looks at boy-type items. Yes, he knows we are having a girl and seems quite excited about it, but still he cannot get away from the camouflage/pirate/ sports themed stuff. We will add this to our little pile of things we haven't been able to resist. Her room has a baby swing in the middle of it (thanks kyle and alison!) which is filled with cute little items we could not resist buying. Pretty soon we are going to have to get serious and start filling the room with practical items. Maybe next weekend we will get the crib.

She moves!

So, exciting news. The baby has been moving around for about a month, but has really picked up on strength. She kicks HARD and you can sometimes even see my belly move. Last night was the first time that Jeff got to feel her kicks. I think he has been doubting how strong she is, but I convinced him to feel it and I dont think he could believe it how much you can feel it. At first I think he thought it was me (as if I can punch from the inside...) but was then fascinated by how often and how hard the little kicks come. Besides punching to the outside world, she likes to kick me on the inside and remind me she is in there. This little one is not to be ignored...

The Crib

Ok, so below was the bedding, this is the crib (with different bedding). I think that the two together will be very nice, and a great start to the design of her room. I have ordered the crib, and we hope to put it together in the coming weeks. But, the first plan is to paint her room. We are getting excited, started picking out stuff for the baby and everything. Just cannot wait to meet her and touch and kiss her. It is fun to have her with me always, but i really am excited to see and snuggle her on the outside world.

Winter Park Camping Trip 8-08

This weekend was our camping trip in Winter Park with Geoff and Trina and Ben. It was really fun- we escaped the hot weather of Denver and got some much needed R&R with great friends. Unfortunately there was a bear who decided we are so much fun he wanted to hang with us. It was kinda cool to see, but got a bit old when the bear wouldn't stay away. No one and nothing was hurt by his visit, but we did end up spending saturday night up in the condo. Lucky for us i had my camera with, for once!

Baby's bedding

Ok, to everyone that i have been bragging up the pretty baby bedding for our new spoiled DIVA on the way- here it is. Isn't is precious and elegant?? We are going to plan the entire room around this theme.
